FINANCE COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 1996, at the
Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Mayor Glen Hardin
Councilmember Carolyn Beahen
Councilmember Sheila Beyer
Councilmember Kenneth Peterson
Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman

Also Present:

City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
Finance Officer Jessie Hart
Administrative Services Manager Linda Wake Smith

CALL TO ORDER

Councilmember Peterson called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at 6:08 p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

None

APPROVE AGENDA

Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented.

COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Case #1: Consider Budget Amendment for the Purchase of One Mobile Radio

Finance Officer Hart informed the Finance Committee that there is a vehicle, jointly used by the
streets and parks crews, that does not have a mobile radio. Most of the existing radios are 25 watts
and will reach to approximately the City limits, although we try to put higher wattage radios
(approximately 40 watts) in vehicles that might travel outside of the City. Quotes have been
obtained for a 25 and a 40 watt radio that is compatible with our mobile base unit and consistent
with existing models. The cost of the 40 watt is only an additional $68. It would be desirable to
purchase the 40 watt and swap it into a vehicle that currently has a 25 watt and travels outside of
the City. The total cost of the 40 watt radio would be $522.19, which includes antenna,
installation, and sales tax. Ms. Hart noted that, while there is not direct funding identified in the
Adopted 1996 Operating Budget, there remains sufficient funding available in the Council
Contingency.

Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend
Council adopt the resolution authorizing a budget amendment ~locating $525 from the Council
contingency for the purchase of one mobile radio.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Zimmem~an, Beyer, Beahen and
Peterson. Voting No: None.

Finance Committee/May 28, 1996
