Case Public Hearing Regarding Renaming Industry Boulevard NW from TH 47 to CR 83 to Bunker Lake Boulevard NW By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer Background: Attached is a portion of the County map illustrating CR 116 from the eastern terminus at Lexington Blvd. (CR17) to Armstrong Blvd. (CR83), a distance of over 15 miles. CR 116 is known locally as Bunker Lake Boulevard for over two thirds of this distance. The development of Ramsey Town Center would provide a destination on the western end of this roadway for many County residents who may not be familiar with the existing local name, Industry Boulevard. The proposed name change through the City of Ramsey would be a major step forward establishing a single, uniform name for this roadway throughout the County. Less than a two- mile segment would remain within the City of Anoka as Industry Boulevard. The City of Anoka has been requested to consider renaming the remaining portion of CR 116 within its jurisdiction. Notification: Notification of this public hearing was published in the City's official newspaper. Individual notices were mailed to 27 City of Ramsey property owners along CR 116, whose addresses may be affected by the name change. Recommendation: Staff recommends that an ordinance be prepared and introduced changing the name of CR 116 to Bunker Lake Boulevard. The ordinance should specify an effective date which will permit adequate time for a reasonable transition for properties impacted by the address change. Council Action: Motion to direct the City Attorney to prepare and introduce an ordinance changing the name of CR 116 within the City limits to Bunker Lake Boulevard.
