COMMISSION INPUT

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that the City received contract from a communication system
business similar to cellular phones to install a 132' tower. The tower requires approximately 30 feet
x 30 feet and the cables would be underground. The company stated that lights for Central Park
could be mounted on the tower and they would use a 20- to 30~year lease that could generate
$20,000 to $30,000 per year. The location of the tower would be on Highway 10 between County
Road 83 and County Road 56, or Central Park.

Commissioner Asfahl stated that Highway 10 would be a better place for a tower than Central Park.
Commissioner Droegemueller stated that this could be a means of alternate financing and the tower
may fit next to the baseball field.

Commissioner Ostrum stated that he would have to see what the tower looked like. Parks/Utilities
Supervisor Boos stated that they really wouldn't save very much as far as lighting.

Commissioner Asfahl stated that the tower would be an eyesore in the park and stated that Highway
10 would be the best location. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that Highway 10 would be
associated with the tower. Commissioner Asfahl stated that she did not want that correlation.

Staff report on park development and maintenance activity

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Chair Cook and seconded by Commissioner LaMere to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried.
