Absent: None. <br /> <br />NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission noted the Joint City Council and Planning Commission meeting <br />minutes dated July 2, 1996, and the City Council regular meeting minutes dated July 23, 1996. <br /> <br />NOTE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission noted the Planning Commission public hearing and regular <br />meeting minutes dated July 2, 1996. <br /> <br />REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: ALPINE PARK PLANNING <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos reviewed the background information regarding Alpine Park. <br /> <br />Since the Commission's last meeting, City Council's Finance Committee reviewed the 5-Year CIP and <br />recommended City Council approval. 1997 is intended as the year development of Alpine Park <br />begins. The CD Specified two 1997 funding sources, $40,000 in Landfill Trust Fund interest <br />earnings and a large amount potentially available from the sale of the land north of 153rd Avenue. <br /> <br />Resident comments on how the park should be developed have include: <br /> <br />Resident requests for walking/nature paths. <br />Ramsey Youth Athletic Association representative recommendation that the park be primarily <br />a baseball complex. <br />Resident request that the park be primarily a soccer complex. <br />Resident request that the park have ','.1~ trails for skiing in the winter and walking in the <br />summer. <br /> <br />The City's Community Development Intern, Dave Chmielewski, is available to assist with concept <br />planning. <br /> <br />The Commission was requested to identify priorities for Alpine Park's Concept Plan preparation. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos noted there are currently 1286 children in the Sunfish area with a potential number of 3200. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos showed the Commission the most recently prepared concept plan and stated most of the <br />grading for the athletic field area has been accommodated. He requested Commission input on how <br />the concept plan should be modified. <br /> <br />Chair Cook stated he liked the diagram on page 5 of the Commission packet as it has accessible <br />parking and looks nice.
