Subd. ~ 3. Whirling Devices, Searchlights, Streamers, Balloons and Other Gas <br />Gilled Figures. Whirling devices, searchlights, streamers, balloons, and other gas filled figures, are <br />prohibited except as a temporary sign as provided for in Section 9.12.05 (Temporary Signs). <br /> <br /> Subd. 3 4. Flashing Signs, Devices or Lights. Flashing signs, devices or lights are <br />not permitted in any district except as provided for in 9.12.03, Subd. 7 (General Provisions - <br />Illumination). <br /> <br /> Subd. 4-5. Portable Signs. Portable signs are prohibited except as temporary signs <br />as provided for in Section 9.12.05 (Temporary Signs). <br /> <br />Subd. fi 6. <br /> <br />Projecting Signs. No projecting sign shall be permitted in any district. <br /> <br />Subd. 6 7. Roof Signs. Roof signs are prohibited in any zoning district. <br /> <br /> Subd. g 8. Signs on Parked Vehicles. Signs painted or mounted on or attached to <br />vehicles, trailers or equipment where the apparent primary purpose of the vehicle or equipment is to <br />display said sign are prohibited. However, this is not in any way intended to prohibit signs placed on or <br />affixed to vehicles and trailers, such as lettering on motor vehicles, where the sign is incidental to the- <br />primary use of the vehicle, trailer and/or any other type of mobile equipment. <br /> <br /> Subd. 8 9. Signs on Trees and Utility Poles. Signs which' are attached or otherwise <br />affixed to trees or other vegetation or utility poles are prohibited. ~. <br /> <br /> Subd. O 1_.0.0. Signs Painted on Walls. Signs painted on an exterior wall, fascia, <br />parapet or a chimney of a building or on a fence are prohibited. <br /> <br /> Subd. t4)11. Signs Which Imitate Traffic Control Devices. Signs which imitate, <br />interfere with, obstruct the view of, or can be confused with any authorized traffic control sign, signal, <br />or other device are prohibited. <br /> <br />Subd. t-1- 12. <br /> <br />Billboards. No billboards shall be permitted in any zoning district of the <br /> <br />City. <br /> <br />9.12.05 Temporary Signs. The following are the only type of temporary signs permitted in any <br />district unless other types are specifically allowed in the individual zoning districts. <br /> <br /> Subdivision 1. Grand Openings and Public Events. Portable Signs, Balloons, <br />Gas Filled Figures, Streamers, Whirling Devices and Revolving Searchlights or any such sign <br />resembling the same, are prohibited from use within the city except for public events, or when used as <br />an integral part of the design of a building, ,,. '~'~ ...... ~: .... : .... *: ..... :+*' <br /> ~' , .................j ............... public events or grand <br />openings (the initial commencement of business). In the case of grand openings, or public events, these <br />dev4ees whirling devices, streamers and revolving searchlights shall be allowed for the week only of said <br />public event or grand opening; portable signs and balloons shall be allowed for up to thirty (30) days <br />surrounding the public event or grand opening. <br /> <br />85 <br /> <br /> <br />
