CASE #4

APPROVE GREENWAY APPLICATION
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Background:

Attached is a Metro Greenways Planning Grant application. Prior to the Commission
meeting, staff will have met with the Anoka County Soil and Water Conservation District
to collaborate on an application. The two areas of interest are the Trott Brook and it's
tributaries and Elmcrest Creek (also known as Ditch 66).

Observation:

The primary outcome of the grant, should it be aWarded, would be soil and wetland
inventorying. This information and particularly the corresponding mapping would be
useful for various aspects of trail planning and land management.

It is expected that most of the inventorying work would be performed by the
Conservation District, with few City staff hours needed.

Attached for your information is the Greenway's Application that explains the program
further.

Commission Action:

None required - informational only

Reviewed by:

Copies to:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Public Works Director
City Engineers

P & R: 01/10/02

-87-
