She stated'the Commission should leave the <br />recreation space open and deal with that on a case-by-case decision. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe agreed with Commissioner Johns. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos asked if Commissioner Johns was talking about green space, not recreation. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johns stated she wanted to have standards on the open space. She stated the <br />Commission should address the recreation aspect and that the City would be willing to work with <br />the developer regarding this. <br /> <br />Commissioner Olds stated the City did not want the developer to come in, have a small area of <br />e',en space, and ..... rte this would be their green space or recreation space. <br /> <br />C.:~fi .-.rson Cook stated they should do something as simple as stating the City requires that <br />m:..,-.family dwellings provide recreation facilities adequate to their reside~tts and it would be the <br />rest,onsibility of the developer to propose the recreational facility that is best suited for the <br />demographics of their sales. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johns si:ated she is more concerned .with the City as a whole and how the <br />development, would fit in the look of the City. The people who buy into the development would <br />be the deciders on what recreation would go into the development. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated this would depend on the demographics. What he does not want is a <br />bunch of apartments to come in and not have any recreation available and then have the parks <br />become overwhelmed by the added residents because of the densities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johns asked Mr. Boos if he needed the Commission to make a decision on this <br />right away. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated he did not think a decision would need to be made that night. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated the reason he brought this up over the winter was to solidify this with ' <br />the upcoming developments.
