CASE # 9

IDENTIFY OUTDOOR MEETING SCHEDULE
By: Mark Boos, Parks & Utilities Supervisor

Background:

For several years, the Park and Recreation Commission has held regular meetings outdoors in the
months of May through October (weather pending). This provided the Commission an
opportunity to inspect and comment on parks as a group and it afforded residents access to the
Commission on a neighborhood level. On the few recent occasions of inclement weather, the
Commission conducted the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #2. The purpose of this
case is to confirm the Commission's desire for outdoor meetings in 2002 and, if so, what the
locations will be.

Observations:

Last year when.the Commission addressed the annualized agenda matter, the consensus was that
City Council members would be invited to tour the City Park's with the Park and Recreation
Committee during the month of June at Central Park. Having a joint City Council and Park and
Recreation meeting will allow an opportunity to review the 5-Year Capital Improvement
Program. With that in mind, Central Park is shown for this month.

The Commissions agenda is expected to be quite busy with Subdivision recommendations in
May, so some consideration should' be given to having it at the Fire Station. The Horse Care
Commission also wanted to meet with the Park Commission. This could occur the third
Thursday of May and essentially serve as the "Park of the Month."

May:
June: Central Park
July: River's bend?
August: Elmcrest?
Sept: Cottonwood
Oct: tentative

After the Commission decides where (or if) the meetings will be held, their locations will be
published in the Ramsey Resident newsletter.

Commission Action:

Determine if outdoor meetings will be held in 2002 and, if so, their locations.

-And

Motion to invite and schedule a joint City Council meeting and tour during the month of June on
, at P.M.

Reviewed by:
Director of Public Works

P & R: 04/11/02

-45-
