Participonts would hit plastic bolls <br />dlreolly into the booth and our professlonols would offer <br />suggestions for improvements. The lesso~ were free and <br />became a stopping point for many of visitors, who themselves <br />were golfers as well os fans, The Public Informcrllor~ Deporlment <br />was able to secure Brad James, cooch of the 2002 Universily of <br />Minnesota N.C.A.A. champior-kship golf tecta, and George <br />Shodddge, a famous local golfer to essist with the golf lessons. <br />In addltlof~, Bill Hauck, Chomonix's golf pro, spent several doys o1' <br />the tourney assisting visitors with lhelr swings. The <br />N,C.A.A Gdt Championship Trophy is in the background, <br /> <br /> .... · ' Featured Employee .:. -' Scott Gilbertson <br /> <br />Scott Gilbert:son has been with Anoka' County Parks and <br />Recreation for o~er twenty-five years. He started out <br />wor~ing as a member of the CETA crew and. was <br />eventually 'hired "on'. permanently as a Parkkeeper. <br />Throughout 'his cai'eer Scott has seen tremendous change <br />within the park system. Hetakes a lot of pride in knowing <br />he has had a role with development and maintenance of <br />every Park in the system. ' ....-- ':' <br /> <br />Much of Scott's work has involved operating heavy <br />equipment. Grading, creating roadways, preparing <br />building sites, hauling fill, and clearing diseased trees have <br />all been some of the tasks he has tackled. He remembers <br />spending a lot of time reworking Chomonix Golf Course <br />after the County acquired the course. He was also in on <br />the initial development of Bunker Hills as well as other <br />parks as they were acquired. Much of the initial work <br />involved removing existing structures. A lot of hours were <br />also spent at the wood waste disposal site during the <br />Dutch Elm epidemic. <br /> <br />Scott Gilbertson has been with Anoka County <br />Parks and Recreation for over 25 years. <br /> <br />Before. coming to work for the County,' Scott had <br />experience with roofing, construction, and pool <br />maintenance. He also had a' variety.of experience on <br />farms-cleaning silos, loading turkeys, and other .such <br />glamorous activities.' . <br /> <br />When Scott isn't loading turkeys he enjoys hunting, f'Lshing, <br />and camping. He enjoys his time spent with twins .la.son <br />and .]ared and daughters Katelyn and Kelly.· They like to <br />be at their cabin in Wisconsin, go for rides on his new used <br />Goldwing motorcycle, or travel in their' .motorhome. <br />Everywhere Scott goes he finds interesting people to talk <br />with and getto know. -.. <br /> <br />Congratulations on twenty-five years of se~ice.with Anoka <br />County!
