UPDATE ON CANOPY COVER PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Mr. Max proceeded to review his draft table of recommended trees. Under the Comment column, it was suggested that there be an explanation of why some trees are unacceptable. Task Force will work with the City to get the list of recommended and unacceptable trees on the web site and distributed to residents at the front counter at City Hall. There was an idea that the City could publish its own local tree handbook that would also tell people where to go .to see examples of preferred and unacceptable trees and shrubs. Local utility companies might be willing to help fund such a booklet. The booklet might also discuss water preservation and conservation. Mr. Max was directed to continue working on the tree list, and include the Phone number for Gopher One, what to do with Christmas trees, and other helpful information. Mr. McDilda stated that he would work on EPTF Timetable with a goal in mind of distributing an educational pamphlet about trees in Ramsey at the next Environmental Expo. City Staff was asked to determine how many years the City has been participating in the annual Environmental Expo. Margaret Connolly volunteered to contact Great River Energy for the purpose of determining any interest in helping the City fund an education pamphlet on trees. Sarah Strommen was asked to poll City Council and see how they would prefer to be updated on the progress of the EPTF: regular Council meeting or a Council work sesSion. Mr. McDilda stated that he would contact Mike Reeve and ask him to update the Planning Commission on the progress of the EPTF. Mr. Boos was asked to have the Park Commission appoint a liaison to the EPTF. City Staff was asked to schedule a joint meeting of the Planning Commission and Park Commission in March, 2003, to receive a presentation of the draft tree preservatiOn ordinance. ACTION ITEMS RESULTING FROM MEETING · City Staff to correct the 12-02-02 meeting minutes. · Ms. Dvorak to schedule a Saturday work session, preferably january 11, 2003, to work on the draft tree preservation ordinance. · Mr. Bacon should plan on attending the January 6 meeting to talk about the Re-Leaf Grant. · Members Connolly and Strommen to continue to work with Mark Boos to prepare an appendix of performance standards to the tree list.
