CASE #2

RAMSEY BUSINESS EXPO AND BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY RECAP
By: Economic Development Commission

Background:

The Ramsey Economic Development Commission conducted the annual Business Expo on June 3,
1995. This year, the event was conducted in conjunction with the Ramsey Lions Community
Picnic. By combining these two events, both groups have found that the events were easier to
plan. The turnout was also better in terms of numbers, yet the business draw was down. In the
future, this may change as a closer relationship is developed with the business community.

The EDC also conducted the annual Business Appreciation Day on August 23, 1995. This year,
the event had the largest turnout ever with 108 people taking part in the golf tournament and 113
people attending the dinner.

It is anticipated that next year's event will be held at The Links at Northfork, keeping with the
policy to rotate the event each year.

Based upon the success of these two events, the Commission is returning a check for $713.00
from Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce, reflecting the funds remaining from the Business Expo
donation and the remaining funds from the Business Appreciation Day. These funds are broken
down as follows: Expo $494.49, Business Appreciation Day $218.51

Commission Action:

No action necessary, for informational purposes only.

Reviewed by:

Economic Development Coordinator

EDC: 11/07/95
