(RRH) for City approval
of the construction of a maintenance building on the golf course property. It is my
understanding that a public hearing is scheduled for this matter on June 21, 1995.

RRH's request is motivated in large part for the safety of its employees and motorist along State
Highway 47. The current maintenance building is located across Highway 47 from the golf
course. This requires large machinery to cross the highway regularly. With the increasing
population in the area, this poses a greater safety risk than itt thePast. RIGt is willing to
expend monies to erect a new building on the golf course property to address this safety concern.

I understand there may be some concern over the proposed building on the part of one
homeowner who is adjacent to the course. RRH feels this concern is unwarranted. First, the
golf course is part of a planned unit development (PUD), and the requested structure is
consistent with the purpose and function of the PUD. This is not a case where a landowner is
requesting City approval to construct a building which is inconsistent with the surrounding
property. One would expect, as should all adjoining homeowners, that a golf course would have
a maintenance building on its property. A PUD is designed to facilitate development in an
orderly and predictable manner. The request of RRI-I is consistent with the PUD and should be
approved without any surprise to adjoining property owners.
