COMMISSION BUSINESS

Case gl: 1995 Ramsey Business Appreciation Day Recap

Mr. Gromberg reviewed the events at the 1995 Ramsey Business Appreciation Day. The event
was conducted at the Rum River Hills Golf Course on Wednesday, August 23, 1995. This year's
event had 104 golfers with 26 teams competing and over 110 people attending the dinner. Based
upon the current projections, the event should make a profit of $105.

Chairperson Wagner inquired as to the number of people that were billed for the event and whether
they would be expected to pay.

Mr. Gromberg informed the EDC that only three to four teams were billed and all of these had been
involved in the event in previous years, so their payment should be forthcoming. These extra
funds will be combined with the remaining Expo funds and returned to the City Council at the
upcoming joint meeting.

Chairperson Wagner reminded the EDC of the cost of the oversize driver that was donated by the
EDC.

Commissioner Kent inquired as to the comments that may have been received concerning the
condition of the greens at the course.

Mr. Gromberg stated that we have not received many serious complaints, but that most of those
participating understood that the green damage was not under the City control.

Chairperson Wagner pointed out that his yard has a similar fungus and that the climactic conditions
this summer were favorable to the growth of fungus.

For next years event, the EDC discussed the following changes: 1. Issuing name tags at registration
2. Participants list for door prizes
3. Marking of cards as to the event that the team is competing in
4. Better coordination of hole sponsorship

Commissioner Kent agreed that we should get the participants to fill out a slip at registration with
their name and address, businesses and teams to be used as a mailing list for the next year's event.
This would also reduce confusion resulting from teams where each member pays separately.
Commissioner McGhee agreed that the use of name tags would be advantageous, as he was moved
between a variety of teams to fill those out.

Commissioner McGhee continued that playing with a team of new people allowed him to network
and talk about the City. This may be a good idea in the future for the EDC members to help
facilitate the growth of the City.

Mr. Gromberg agreed and said that the Welsh Company team had requested that they be split up to
help with this idea.

The EDC was informed that we had the first female team this year and that hopefully, next year,
there would be more all-female teams.

Chairperson Wagner also suggested that next year, we may want to give out a few more full dozen
of golf balls to allow for a faster completion of the event.

Economic Development Commission/September 7, 1995
Page 2 of 4
