ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Road and Bridge Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday,
September 26, 1995, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W.,
Ramsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Councilmember Carolyn Beahen
Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman

Also Present:

City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
City Engineer Steve Jankowski
Finance Officer Jessie Hart

CALL TO ORDER

Councilmember Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the Road and Bridge Committee
to order at 5:32 p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

None

APPROVE AGENDA

Consensus was to approve the agenda but to begin with Case #2.

COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Case #2: Discuss Sunwood Drive Alignment

City Engineer Jankowski presented a sketch of the alignment for Sunwood Drive that the
Road and Bridge Committee recommended to Council, which Council ratified. The
alignment would go through the Kurak property from the south end of Sunfish Lake to the
Good Value property. At the last meeting, Tom and Patti Kurak asked to talk about a
realignment. Mr. Jankowski then presented that alignment. The alignment meets at the
Good Value property in about the same location - a little north but not much. It swings
around the southeast portion of the wetland and rejoins the existing dirt road and goes
directly east. From an engineering standpoint, this is a workable alternative. The curve
designs are reasonable. He noted that all three property owners are present.

Tom Kurak stated that this alignment uses the existing roadway which is a shared easement
between the three owners. It creates the least amount of damage to the property. The old
alignment would have created a double road frontage - a road in back of the house and a
road in front. He stated he is happy with this alignment.

John Peterson, Good Value Homes, stated that the exact reasons Mr. Kurak wants this
alignment is why he preferred the other one. He stated that they have purchased the Grace
Kalstad property and the double road impact will now be on the property just purchased.
He talked about the very large lots on the lake and that it's their intention to leave Grace's
home there. He stated they have the potential for beautiful, expensive homes there; now
this double collector and busy street will be across from these nice lots.
