Case g2: Wendell's Development Agreement and Subsequent Land Sale <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated he is pleased to bring this case to Council. Wendell's <br />Inc. is proposing to construct a new 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the City <br />of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Larry Cody, owner of Wendell's, Inc., stated they are a light manufacturing company, <br />currently located in Minneapolis. They have been in business since 1882. They <br />manufacture specialty medallions and robber stamps. He stated that Wendell's employs 55 <br />people. He added that there will be very little truck traffic because of the business. <br /> <br />Jeff Houle of Miller Construction stated that the proposed building will be a 19,600 square <br />feet, white precast double T building just off of County Road #116. He elaborated on the <br />parking, loading docks, office plans and possible future expansion. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin inquired of the time table. <br /> <br />Mr. Cody stated they hope to begin construction within a couple of months and that they <br />will be in the building by the end of July 1995. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to approve <br />the proposed development agreement for the Wendell's Inc. facility. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer, Beahen and Peterson. <br />Voting No: None. Abstain: Mayor Hardin. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to <br />authorize closing on Lot 1, Block 5, Gateway North Industrial Park 2. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer, Beahen and Peterson. <br />Voting No: None. Abstain: Mayor Hardin. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adopt <br />Ordinance g95-01 authorizing the sale of Lot 1, Block 5, Gateway North Industrial Park 2. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer, Beahen and Peterson. <br />Voting No: None. Abstain: Mayor Hardin. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to direct <br />Staff to initiate the required utility extension to the site. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Beyer, Zimmerman, Beahen and Peterson. <br />Voting No: None. Abstain: Mayor Hardin. <br /> <br />Mr. Cody stated his company is looking forward to moving to Ramsey and he extended an <br />invitation to Staff and Council to visit his facility. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Request to Rezone Certain Property from B-2 Business and R- <br />1 Rural Residential to R-3 Urban Residential; Case of Anoka <br />Hennepin Independent School District No. 11 <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the Ramsey Elementary School is proposing an <br />expansion in 1995. The parcel is zoned R-1 Rural Residential and B-2 Business and <br />schools are not a permitted use in that zoning district.
