Mr. Schwanke addressed the land uses in the consultant recommendation. He pointed out <br />that this recommendation increases the land for residential uses. Further, that this proposal <br />places high intensity uses near each other moving to lower intensity uses further west. <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen, Planning Commission member, presented Figure 7 to Council <br />which is the Planning Commission recommendation for land use and transportation. He <br />explained that the initial goal of the Planning Commission was to plan for a roadway <br />system that worked with either or neither bridge location proposal. He then walked <br />through the reasons why the Planning Commission favors the western bridge location. <br /> <br />Mr. Ken Wagner, member of the Economic Development Commission, addressed the <br />exhibit known as Figure 8 which is the EDC's recommended land use and transportation <br />plan. He expounded that too much emphasis was placed on the bridge and stated the EDC <br />rationale for their exhibit. <br /> <br />Mr. Schwanke and Mr. Smith provided a wrap-up regarding bridge location issues. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson suggested additional discussions with neighboring communities <br />regarding these draft plans. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman suggested more in-depth study on the County Road <br />#116/Trunk Highway #47 intersection and Trunk Highway #47 corridor. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin requested a letter from MnDOT on MnDOT's roadway improvements in <br />Ramsey on Trunk Highway #47. <br /> <br />Mr. Ben Deemer, Planning Commission member, introduced himself as a member of the <br />last bridge task force that worked between 1982 and 1986. He discussed his opinion <br />regarding land use versus transportation and the Planning Commission recommendation. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder provided some background on why the City initiated the land <br />use study and what issues will exist in the future. <br /> <br />Council discussed what the various priorities should or could be. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson asked for suggestions from Staff as to impact of various land use <br />decisions on the various land parcels. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to continue this <br />discussion to the March 13, 1995 Council workshop. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson <br />and Zimmerman.
