Case #4: Goals for 1994.

During 1993, the EDC did not have any set goals it wished to attain. As a Commission, goals
need to be set to avoid "floundering". A concerted effort needs to be made to develop specific
goals that areattainable by the EDC and proceed with them. Some ideas for goals include, but are
not limited to, the following: Business Fair, Business Visitation Program, Business Appreciation
Day - Scheduling, additional monument signs, development of a chamber group for the City of
Ramsey, new business packet, and additional entrance signage.

All EDC members received a newly published 1994 Five Year Capital Improvements Plan, Work
Plan, and Residential Activity Forecast. These documents will assist the Commission with
suggestions for goal setting. The Commission discussed various goals, including whether or not
the Business Expo should be held in 1994. We may wish to "piggyback" the Expo with another
event such as ,the community picnic, or wait until 1995 to have the next Expo.

Commissioner Nelson recommended that each of the participants in the 1993 Expo be contacted
and surveyed for their ideas and comments. Business visitations also need to be made to all
businesses in Ramsey.

Commissioner Ullen mentioned that we may need to work more closely with the Anoka Area
Chamber of Commerce and put more direction in our agenda packets.

The following recommendations were made for the next meeting:

1)

Request that Pete Turok attend the meeting and discuss future use of Anoka Area Chamber
of Commerce and develop a unified strategy for Business Expo and Business Appreciation
Day.

2)

Contact Ramsey Lions regarding possibility of combining Business Expo and Community
Picnic.

Mr. Gromberg was directed to contact Pete Tm'ok and request that he attend the March 3, 1994
EDC meeting, and to contact Ramsey Lions regarding the possibility of combining the Business
Expo and the Community Picnic.

Mr. Gromberg informed the Commission that at the 1994 Game Fair the City will have a booth,
and he inquired if the EDC members were planning to attend and if they could work a shift at this
booth.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Kent to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Commissioners Ullen, Nelson and Kent.
Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Stafld and Greenberg.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Respectfully s 'tt //

I~ject Manager

Economic Development Commission / January 19, 1994
Page 3 of 3
