structures on the rear of the lot currently do not have frontage on any street. In order to remedy
this situation, a service road has been proposed to allow for access and for the future closing of
some Highway #10 accesses. At the meeting, the affected property owners indicated that a
different route for both sides of 153rd Avenue N.W. should be considered. These alternate routes
were as follows: Along the north side of 153rd, the road would parallel the tracks and follow the
property line [of Ramsey Commercial Park to Cowles Addition. Along the south side, the road
would start at the west side of the City's drainage easement and curve east to bisect the Welte lot
with a cul-de-sac on the Obrycki lot.

The EDC was receptive to this idea and asked that they be kept informed as to the progress of the
service road.

Case #4: Realignment of Ferry Street in Anoka

At the last Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce meeting, the City of Anoka presented its plan for
the realignment of the Ferry Street and Main Street intersection. As the map shows, traffic will be
encouraged to use West Main Street to get to Highway #10. Some of the Commissioners felt that
this alignment did not address the problems, but since it was a City of Anoka matter, they should
not make any comments.

STAFF INPUT

Mr. Gromberg updated the Commission on the success of the business visitation program. He
informed the Commission that the majority of the companies are interested in expanding or
building new-facilities. Staff will be asking the City Council at their June 14, 1994 meeting, to
acquire options on some parcels in the Industrial Area.

City Staff will also be asking the Council to authorize negotiations for the purchase of the
Minnesota Shavings and Sawdust plant to be used as the new Public Works facility.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Kent and seconded by Commissioner Stafki to adjourn the meeting of
the Economic Development Commission.

Motion carried.
