Ms. Hart explained that the general liability is based on liability and then it is allocated so <br />much to each department. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that the Lower Rum River Water Management Organization <br />budgeted for 1995 the same as projected for 1994. He stated that the organization will be <br />doing a significant update to its plan. We have been "socking" money away. It's a lot of <br />dollars but may have to increase the dollar amount by a couple of thousand. We have <br />applied for a grant but may not be able to count on it. He stated he should know about the <br />grant the third Thursday in August so he would know what numbers will be needed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson inquired if there was any feedback on the Christmas cards Staff <br />sent out last year. <br /> <br />Couneilmember Beyer stated she didn't think the City could use taxpayers money to send <br />out Christmas cards. She stated she is not anti-Christmas but that she has a problem with <br />sending out the cards. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that Staff sent them out to thank contractors, etc. for <br />doing business in the City. <br /> <br />Ms. Hart stated that the cities she has been with in the past have sent out cards. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer inquired if this idea was checked out with the League of Minnesota <br />Cities. <br /> <br />Ms. Hart replied it was and it is okay as long as there is no direct connotation with religion, <br />etc. <br /> <br />Ms. Hart stated that the property taxes are a big variable right now. We may need to cut <br />$200,000 or $2,000. She stated she just didn't know. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that Hennepin County is not "coughing up" as much as <br />it has in the past. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding fiscal disparities. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer inquired about the NMMA and Councilmember Zimmerman stated <br />he was disappointed it's not included in the budget. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that Staff had discussed putting the $5,000 back in. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson suggested leaving it as is for now. <br /> <br />There were no questions pertaining to the Charter. <br /> <br />Ms. Hart stated there were no significant changes for the Planning Commission - a small <br />increase in postage. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer inquired if it was discussed giving Commission members $25 or <br />$30 as opposed to the $20. <br /> <br />Finance/Budget Committee/August 8, 1994 <br /> Page 2 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
