Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Hardin to enter into a one-year contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. for recycling pick-up with an option to extend the contract an additional six months at the same cost. The City will notify Ace by January 1, 1995 whether or not the City is planning to extend the contract. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Peterson and Hardin. Voting No: Councilmember Zimmerman. Absent: Mayor Gilbertson and Councilmember Beyer. 7) Report on Diagnosis of TI990 Computer Problems: Ms. Hart explained that MASYS has installed a new memory board for the Police Departments TI990 computer system. The Finance Committee is recommending purchasing the upgraded memory board if it rectifies the lock-up problem. Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to approve the purchase of the upgraded memory board from MASYS Corporation for $500.00, pending the outcome of the 60-day test period. Motion carded. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Hardin, Zimmerman and Peterson. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gilbertson and Councilmember Beyer. 8) Report on Status of Solid Waste Management Charge to "Exempt" Municipal Owner Properties: Ms. Hart explained that the County is offering a reduction to the solid waste management charge on City-owned properties. She requested authorization to pursue appealing the entire charge. Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Hardin to authorize the Finance Officer to appeal the entire solid waste management charge on City-owned properties. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Peterson, Hardin and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gilbertson and Councilmember Beyer. MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT 1) "Suburb Rating Article" in Minneapolis Star Tribune Councilmember Peterson summarized an article in the April 26, 1994 issue of the Minneapolis Star Tribune rating suburbs. Out of 47 suburbs, the City of Ramsey rated #7. He suggested this rating is something to be very proud of. 2) Events for Saturday, April 30, 1994 Councilmember Peterson reminded citizens about the annual Pet Clinic at Central Park from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 1994 and the Tree Sale at City Hall, beginning at 7:00 a.m., also on Saturday, April 30, 1994.
