She inquired whether all seven acres <br />would have ~ be covered. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik stated the City would be reasonable and would want the part of acreage that is used for <br />business to b~ kept groomed. <br /> <br />Ms. Welte infl~ uired whether they would have to pave their outside storage areas. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik s~ted they could ask for an extension if it couldn't be done by 1997. <br /> <br />Ms. Welte stated she felt they should be grandfathered in and should not have to comply. <br /> <br />Steve, represg' nting the Tom Thumb store at 14911 Ramsey Boulevard N.W. - inquired whether <br />everything w{as being grandfathered in and how it would affect his business. <br />Ms. Frolik rated'they would need to pave and curb the customer/employee parking area by 1997. <br /> <br />Steve menfitmed they requested the service road be paved about one month ago. He stated they <br />were in the Rural Business District which requires bituminous curbing; he inquired whether <br />concrete curing would be required now. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik stated the standard for streets is bituminous curb; the standard for on-site commercial <br />curbing is corjcrete. The road will be constructed with bituminous curb. <br /> <br />Mr. Christia~ inquired what the City was trying to accomplish and again stated he thought it was <br />overkill. He 'z'anted to know what the thinking or purpose was for all-around-brick buildings. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik st~ ted City Council added the performance standard that the building exterior facing be <br />100% other tl~ an metal for aesthetic reasons. <br /> <br />Commissione Deemer stated the City is looking for nice looking buildings as opposed to metal- <br />clad buildin~t and he advised Mr. Christian that if he were to add on to his building exactly as it <br />exists, the Cit probably would approve it. <br /> <br />Chairperson [ lawden stated the City doesn't want steel buildings that look like steel buildings. <br /> <br />Ms. Welte ret '~rred to "permitted uses" and stated she has two renters, a small machine shop and a <br />tool sharpenir g business, that do not fall into this classification. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik stated there are no changes to the permitted uses.
