:1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> ! <br /> I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />The Commj~. on noted the following City Council meeting minutes: <br /> <br />1) City (2~uneil special meeting minutes dated May 19, 1993. <br />2) City C~tmeil public hearing and regular meeting minutes dated May 19, 1993. <br /> <br />Commissione~ Deemer commented that the distribution of Council minutes are getting behind <br />again, and Zoging Administrator Frolik explained that there has been an influx of meetings and, in <br />addition to th~ turn-around time to get them typed, the policy is to not publish Council minutes <br />until they hav_i been approved, which only happens once a month. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer suggested the use of a court reporting machine. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />Chairperson Sawden adjourned the regular Planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 7:34 <br />p.m. in order ~ conduct the following public hearing: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Requ~t for a Conditional Use Permit to Have an Accessory Structure Larger than Code <br />AllowS; ease of Norman Archer. <br /> <br />Chairperson Brawden called the regular Planning and Zoning Commission meeting back to order at <br />7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: i Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Have an Accessory Structure <br /> .Larger than Code Allows; case of Norman Archer <br /> <br />Zoning AdmitXistrator Frolik stated Norman Archer is requesting a conditional use permit to <br />construct an a~cessory structure larger than allowed by City Code on the property at 15410 Jackal <br />Street N.W. ,.~?.e explained Mr. Archer currently has a total of 1,024 square feet of garage and <br />accessory builging space and is proposing to construct a 576 square foot accessory garage, which <br />would exceed!the limit for his property by 112 square feet. Mr. Archer has indicated that the <br />additional spa~ is needed to store personal equipment and vehicles only. <br /> <br />Commissioneri Terry inquired why the applicant is requesting a CUP instead of a variance to the <br />zoning regulation. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik exglained that a variance is only applicable when there is something physically unique <br />about the prol~erty that causes a hardship to a point that a variance is required to alleviate the <br />hardship. : <br /> <br />Commission~ Deemer inquired whether the total allowable garage and accessory building space <br />for Mr. Arehffs size property was being increased to 1600 square feet in the proposed ordinance, <br />and if so, that WOuld serve as the impetus to allow the CUP which would then come in <br />conformance ~th the new ordinance when passed. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik sm,ted she did not recall whether that figure was 1600 square feet. <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission proceeded to review the Findings of Fact. <br /> <br />Planning & Zoning Commission/August 3, 1993 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
