I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The Bnilding Inspection Department will remain the same. <br />The Engineering Department is requesting a part-time temporary engineering <br />asiistant. <br />The Street Department and the Park and Recreation Department are each asking for <br />one full-time person plus various temporary workers. <br />Weeds/T~s is requesting no additional personnel. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that the difference in Full Time Equivalents is 5.58 people. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that Staff has worked on a five-year operational plan <br />and has done a good job exploring why there will be a need for more employees. With <br />regard to. raining plans, Mr. Schroeder stated that in 1990, the City spent $17,000 for dues <br />and training ($3,000 for training). In 1994, the amount proposed is roughly $60,000. <br />There was a significant jump in 1991 and it has been slowly increasing every since. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that the biggest training increase is because of the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that the amount of money allocated for workshops for Mayor and <br />Council is $1,200. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer stated that Staff should find out where the League of Minnesota <br />Cities conference is going to be before any money is cut out of that part of the budget. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that $1,073 is being budgeted for Anoka County Mediation Services. <br /> <br />Ms. MeAloney stated that the Economic Development Commission's requests are <br />significantly higher. The publishing and printing amounts are higher, etc. A portion of <br />Project Manager Gromberg's salary is charged to the EDC also. <br /> <br />IO <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated there is nothing really different in the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission budget. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney gave an overview of the requests from Administration. Some of the <br />requests m'e supervisory training for Recording Secretary Thieling, a loss control <br />workshop for Personnel Coordinator McAloney, adding tapes to the training library, etc. <br /> <br />With regard to Elections, Ms. McAloney stated that she and Jo Thieling would be taking <br />care of that department and the money requested is for training for 1994 elections plus <br />election judge pay. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart gave an overview of the Finance Departments requests. She <br />requested AICPA membership for Senior Accountant Gomez because this gives the <br />opportunity to get information first hand as it is distributed with regard to payroll <br />information, tax information, etc. She also requested basic governmental accounting <br />classes for Accounting Clerk Mayer. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney summarized some of the requests of the Planning and Zoning Department. <br /> <br />With regant to Data Processing, Ms. McAloney has requested spreadsheet training for one <br />staff member in Administrative Services and also computer troubleshooting, installing, etc. <br />for Network Support Kathy Johnson. <br /> <br />Under General Government Buildings, there is miscellaneous training listed for Dan Bray. <br /> <br />The Poli¢¢ Department has listed the defensive driving course for two, use of force training <br />for the entire department, fa'st responder refresher for four, first responder full course for <br />two, inte~iew and interrogation for new officers, evidence preservation course including <br />fingerprinting, ENFORS system refresher and training on the new State NIBRS system, <br />Council Budget Meeting/August 3, 1993 <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
