Councilmember Hardin stated that if we increase that much we have to do a better job of letting thopublic know how we will be using the money. Councilmember Zimmerman agreed that residents should be informed as to where the money is spent. Councilmember Beyer stated that increasing the tax levy even more would help in getting the second Police Officer and the CSO positions put back in the budget. She felt that "selling"~police protection to the citizens will not be all that difficult. Councilmember Zimmerman suggested putting an article in the Ramsey Resident about what the City needs dollars for. Councilmember Zimmerman reiterated that he was comfortable with a 9.69% increase. Councilmember Beyer felt that the City shotfld be proposing a 14% increase. Councilmember Hardin felt there will be some concern among the residents about a 9.69% increase;i however, he and Councilmember Zimmerman agreed on the 9.69% increase. Schedule Budget Public Hearings Finance Officer Hart proposed to schedule the budget public hearings for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 1993, with a reconvene date (if necessary) of 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 1993. Councilmember Beyer stated she would not be able to attend on those dates but suggested Council SChedule them anyway because of the limited days to meet. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to adjourn the meeting. Motion carded. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Hardin, Zimmerman and Beyer. Voting NO: None. Absent: Mayor Gilbertson and Councilmember Peterson.
