A brief diseu$sion ensued regarding the Municipal Urban Service Area (MUSA) expansion as to <br />the City's eUn'ent Plans on expanding of the MUSA. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that the City had received a presentation from Mr. Wayne <br />Johnson concerning the possibility of constructing a Ramsey/Dayton bridge as a toll bridge. <br />However, Da~tton needs to complete its study of the alignment of the collector roadway on the <br />Dayton side. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Interview Candidates for Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />The EDC haa~two vacancies due to the resignation of Alice Schroeder and the non-reappointment <br />of Bemerd Vcvea. Both of these would be for a term set to expire on January 31, 1995. The City <br />has received:a letter of application from Allen Stafki and Mitchel Peterson requesting appointment <br />to the EDC. 'l~oth applicants are available at this meeting for interviewing. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner then reviewed the mission statement of the EDC and informed the applicants <br />of the meeting schedule and the fact that there are some additional evening meetings. He then <br />proceeded to ask Mr. Peterson to give a brief history of his relationship with the City of Ramsey <br />and his reasons for wanting to be on the EDC. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that he was a graduate from the University of Minnesota, a resident of Ramsey <br />for the past y~ar and is currently employed in the secondary market for mortgages. He hopes to <br />bring to the EDC his economic background and to work with the City in developing an economic <br />development plan for the future. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner then directed his questioning to Mr. Stafki regarding his background and <br />what he hopes to bring to the EDC. <br /> <br />Mr. Stafki iai employed by Green Realty, has a background in business management in the <br />restaurant field and is interested in the continuing growth and development of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults reminded both the applicants and the EDC that the majority of the tax base is <br />provided by e0mmercial properties. <br /> <br />After a brief ~scussion, the consensus was to recommend to the City Council that Mr. Stafld and <br />Mr. Peterson/be appointed to the Economic Development Commission for terms to expire on <br />January 31.1995. <br /> <br />Because thereiwa~ not a quorum present, the official recommendation for appointment will be held <br />until the next ~egular Economic Development Commission meeting on July 14, 1993. <br /> <br />Case g2: 1993 Business Appreciation Day. <br /> <br />The 1993 Bus, ness Appreciation Day has been tentatively scheduled for August 27, 1993 at the <br />Rum River Hills Golf Course at a cost of $45 per golfer. A copy of the 1992 Business <br />Appreciation Day flyer was distributed to the members of the EDC for review and comment. A <br />plan to solieit~ golf teams and door prizes will need to be developed. Nominations should be <br />considered fot induction into the Ramsey Business Hall of Fame for 1992.
