Mr. Schroeder reiterated that two thirds of the community to the south will be impacted by the <br />proposed C,LP. Staffs largest concern is to complete segments that connect the parks, especially <br />the southeast and west sides (North Fork/Whispering Pines area) with the possible addition of the <br />Mississippi River Corridor if funded thru outside sources. The flu'st section of North Fork will <br />identify how,quieldy future projects will progress. The option to shuffle funds between projects <br />needs to be available. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos indicated detailed plans are needed for each district/park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gookin feels that the trail thru North Fork should serve an interpretive function <br />with signs pointing out various vegetation/historical data along the trail. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder indicated that on the north side of North Fork trail before Hunters Ridge is a knoll <br />privately held by the homeowners association, that potentially will become a ball field. Mr. <br />Schroeder su. ggested that discussions with the homeowners association might produce a passive <br />area more stumble for the knoll. <br /> <br />Motion of intent to present staff direction in principal policy areas to City Council was made by <br />Chairperson Hetland and seconded by Commissioner Johnson. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Hefland, Commissioners Cook, Florentius, Oookin and <br />Johnson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Swokowski. <br /> <br />Case 02: Note from Woodland Green Resident Regarding Park <br /> <br />Park/Utilities Coordinator Boos read a note from a Woodland Green Resident indicating the <br />appreciation she feels for the attention the Commission and City Council has given the park. The <br />resident pointed to the lack of play equipment for small children. Mr. Boos indicated that the <br />utilization of Woodland Green Park has increased dramatically since access from 156th Avenue has <br />been made available. Funds from the Gambling Fund would be an ideal source to purchase two <br />spring riders fbr the park at an approximate cost of $250 each. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Hetland and seconded by Commissioner Gookin to allocate funds for two <br />spring riders for Woodland Green Park to be selected by Mr. Boos. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Hefland, Commissioners Cook, Florentius, Gookin and <br />Johnson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Swokowski. <br /> <br />Case #3: Status of Commission Vacancy. <br /> <br />One application has been received to fill the vacancy of Commissioner Prall.
