EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
ReceptionisVNetwork Support, Kathy Johnson
Kathy Johnson began employment with the City of Ramsey as Receptionist with
Administrative Services in February, 1988. In September, 1990 Kathy added the
duties of Network Support to her Receptionist duties. If you have called or visited
the municipal center in the last few years, you have probably talked with Kathy. With
the current importance of computers, Kathy is responsible for installing and updating
software including operating systems, desk accessories, fonts, electronic mail and
applications. She also established and monitors security of electronic mail and
performs virus protection. Kathy performs routine maintenance of our network
computer system and is also our purchasing agent for most supplies throughout City
Hall. Prior to the City of Ramsey, Kathy was Secretary/Data Entry at Danny's
Construction Company at the SHERCO III Power Plant Jobsite in Becker. Kathy
resides in Elk River.
Secretary, Colleen Rybak
Colleen Rybak began employment at the City of Ramsey as Secretary for the
Community Development Department in August, 1988 and transferred to Secretary
in Administrative Services in 1989. She is responsible for scheduling most building
inspections performed by City Inspectors. In addition to the clerical support she is
responsible for the licensing of City businesses. Colleen currently attends North
Hennepin Community College evenings to receive a Certificate in Building Inspection
Technology and has only three classes remaining before graduating. Prior to the
City of Ramsey, Colleen worked in Customer Service at Industrial Fabrics
Corporation. Colleen, husband Bill and daughters Jenee and Heather, live in
Ramsey. Away from work she enjoys scuba diving, gardening, cooking and reading.
At the Council meeting on March 23, 1993, Council
directed Staff to examine the present snowmobile
ordinance, seeking input from individual citizens and
interested groups.
A review of the input at the public hearing on March 23,
1993, indicates that while there are concerns with the
operations of snowmobiles within the City, specifically
trespassing and damage to property, there isn't a movement
to ban them from everywhere except private property. The
two most common comments were to have more
enforcement for violations of trespass and damage to
property laws and for increased education for operators.
In furtherance of the Council's direction, the Police
Department will be holding a series of meetings to get input
from concerned citizens or groups. At this time, except for
the first meeting, there is no set schedule for those meetings.
It is felt that this will be a project that will require a dedication
of time, over the summer and fall, in order to reach
conclusions and make any recommendations to the Council.
If you are interested in being involved on an on -going
basis, please come to this first meeting which will be held
June 16, 1993 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City
Hall.
