I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, November 9, 1993, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Gilbertson <br />Councilmember Glen Hardin <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Council member Sheila B eyer <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also PreSent: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />City Engineer Steven Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Personnel Coordinator Kay McAloney <br />Project Manager James Gromberg <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />Police Chief Mike Auspos <br />Assistant Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Police Sergeant David Gustafson <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor oilbertson called the regular City Council meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and led in <br />the Pledgeof Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />John Lichter, representing the Anoka Area Ice Arena, expressed concem about the tax for <br />gaming Operations. His Board operates and maintains two ice arenas which serve five <br />cities. The Board uses the revenues from the gaming operations to pay mortgage <br />payments,, etc. He stated that they will be adding indoor soccer activity and that the <br />activities ,provided are primarily for youth. He felt that since the gaming tax is directed for <br />park and recreation activities, they are requesting a variance from the additional tax and also <br />a reimbursement. He expressed that if this tax is not directed back to their organization, <br />they may~have to charge more for the use of their facility. He added that they are trying to <br />operate with only volunteer help. <br /> <br />Council st~ggested Mr. Lichter's request be referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Hardin to approve <br />the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmember Peterson and Hardin. <br />Voting No: None.
