Now the City is doing what it would have <br /> <br />Commissior4?r .Brauer reiterated that unless someone could make a compelling case for re- <br />zoning, he c~ul~ not agree. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnsor~ staled that because the first portion of the development was townhomes, he felt it <br />made sense !o h~tve the entire area part of the development. He indicated if the 2nd addition was <br />going to usetthe~roads, they should be in the association to help pay for them. He did not see the <br />point in having !four single-family homeowners only able to access their homes by driving on <br />streets through altownhouse development. <br />Commissioner V~an Scoy stated he shares the concern of the number of high-density residences. <br />He added that f6r transition it would make sense to have single-family homes, but he sees the <br />reasoning fo~ suggesting town homes. He stated there is delineated wetland, and they are also <br />proposing a ~on~l, which seems to be deeper than the wetland. He asked if the engineering staff <br />looked at th~ porld. <br /> <br />City Engine& Olson stated if it is below the elevation of the wetland, they are not gaining any <br />volume. <br /> <br />Commission4~r Van Scoy stated his concem is with the amount of depth, and the number of <br />children that ~11~: be in and around this development. <br />City EngineeI Jmakowski~ stated the engineering staff is okay with the pond. <br />Commissioner Van Scoy stated he would vote against the rezoning. <br /> <br />Commissionar JOhnson indicated he will vote for it. He stated it makes no sense for single- <br />family home4 to drive through a town home development. <br />Chairperson l~ix~ agreed. He stated he is usually against rezoning to medium density, but here it <br />seems to matqe sOtase for something that was largely decided before this development came in. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shepherd stated it makes sense from that perspective, but looking across the <br />street, visuall~ it goes not make sense. <br /> r <br />Commission~[ Watson stated he is opposed.
