CASE #1 <br /> <br />REAPPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS AND ELECTION <br />OF A CHAIRPERSON AND A VICE-CHAIRPERSON <br />By: James Gromberg, Project Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Each year inl accordance with the Ramsey City Code, the Ramsey Economic Development <br />Commission i.s r 'e~luired to appoint a Chairperson and a Vice-Chairperson for the following year. <br />The EDC is :also required to make a recommendation to City Council as to the possible <br />reappointmcn: of'~any Commission members whose terms will expire during the calendar year. In <br />1993 this wo dd ~fffect Commissioners Wagner, Vevea and Nelson whose terms will expire on <br />January 31, 993. For the purposes of reappointment to the EDC and the election of both <br />Chairperson .nd ,Vice-Chairperson, the EDC should consider the past attendance and involvement <br />of the Comm'~ssiOn member in its projects and programs during the preceding year. With this in <br />mind, the follOwihg list shows the number of meetings that each Commissioner has missed: <br /> <br />~ Meetings Missed <br />Kennoth Wagner 1 <br />Darry! Fults 3 <br />Steveh Gorecki 4 <br />Donald .C~ eenberg 4 <br />DavidKent 5 <br />Carol~,n Nelson 3 <br />Alice ISctU'o~er 1 <br />Bemerd Vevea 3 <br /> <br />Regarding the fi~al attendance tally for 1992, any members <br />meeting would incur an additional absence. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />not in attendance at the December <br /> <br />It is the recomme~ndation of City Staff that the EDC open the floor for nominations for Chairperson <br />and Vice-Chairperson, call for a motion and then by roll call vote elect both a Chairperson and a <br />Vice-Chairpe?son. <br /> <br />City Staff recommends that, upon Commissioners Wagner's and Nelson's consent, the Economic <br />Developmenl~ Commission recommend to City Council that they be reappointed. <br /> <br />Concerning the teappointment of Commissioner Vevea, City Council has passed an ordinance <br />amending CI~ pt0r 2 of the Ramsey City Code requiring that all Commission members be residents <br />of the City o4 Ratnsey. Mr. Vevea is not a resident of Ramsey although he does own and operate a <br />business in the ;City of Ramsey. It would be the decision of the Economic Development <br />Commission! whether they would recommend an ordinance amendment to City Council and <br />reappoint Co~rrdSsioner Vevea. <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend/not recommend Kenneth Wagner's reappointment to the Economic <br />Developmen~ Commission to a term expiring January 31, 1995. <br /> <br /> <br />
