CASE # 1 <br /> <br />1992 WAGES AND BENEFITS FOR AFSCME BARGAINING UNIT <br /> BY: Kay McAloney, Personnel Coordinator <br /> <br />Backgrounid: <br /> <br />On April 14;. 1992 the City Council held a special meeting to discuss the latest AFSCME proposal <br />dated April 8, 1~92. At this Council meeting, the Council directed that the proposal be rejected and <br />that the earlier management proposal be placed back on the table for AFSCME consideration. The <br />Council alsq stated that the intent of the 1992 management proposal to AFSCME is to initiate a <br />program that,:reCOgnizes comparable worth and implements a performance pay system. <br /> <br />On April 15, 1992 City Administrator Ryan Schroeder distributed a memo to the AFSCME <br />Business Agent 0nd Union Stewards stating that Council at their April 14, 1992 meeting requests <br />that the b~gaini~g unit vote on the management proposal stating that it was the Councilts belief <br />that the last ~vote taken on the proposal received negative review at least to some extent due to <br />confusion re]~ated to items which have since been more fully explained. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Based on di~us$ion. <br /> <br />Committee' Action: <br />Based on discussion. <br /> <br />Review Ch~ecklist: <br /> <br />City AdministratOr <br />Personnel COOrdinator <br /> <br />NC: 4/21/92 <br /> <br /> <br />
