Merlin Hunt, 17860 Nowthen Boulevard stated that he attended the earlier Work Session where
the Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) was discussed. He stated that in earlier discussions he
had with the City, he was told that the City wasn't looking at creating ordinances based on the
NRI, but noted in the presentation given at the Work Session there was a section of the slide
show on amending the City Code. He stated he cannot hear very well, so he was unsure what
was said, but .there was also information on the slide that mentioned semi-natural areas,
connections and buffers. He stated that the word buffer bothers him. He stated that another slide
recommended updating the existing ordinance and adding new ones that adopted overlays for
environmental protection. He stated that he is in favor of having the information from the NRI
available and feels the citizens would be happy to work with the City if they were educated on
ways to improve their property and protect the natural areas. He stated that when he sees an
ordinance coming, he knows that it will negatively impact his property. He stated that he would
like to strongly recommend that the City use the NRI, but not pass any ordinances based on the
information. He stated that the City should use it to help educate the public so they can enhance
the natural areas for the good of all citizens.

Mayor Gamec stated that the NRI is just an inventory and at the moment there are no plans for
any ordinances related to the information. He stated that he likes Mr. Hunt's suggestion of using

City Council / November 13, 2007
