<br />Mayor Gamec stated that Diamond Graphics stated at the last City Council meeting how <br />welcome the City made their business feel and that Sean Sullivan showed the advantages to <br />moving here with things like travel times to Ramsey versus other areas of the metro. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that the proximity of the Anoka Technical College is a definite <br />plus for businesses. He stated that Anoka also hands out their brochures from the Anoka <br />Technical College in addition to their City brochures when they go talk to a business so they <br />have some information available to look at later. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested that the EDA work on this issue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she feels this issue is bigger than the EDA and should <br />have more involvement. She stated that she thinks Coon Rapids recently went through a similar <br />branding process and asked if the City could get some information from them. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that Assistant City Administrator Nelson just had a meeting <br />with Coon Rapids and noted that their focus was primarily on their logo. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked if Jim Deal or the Solomon Group planned to participate <br />financially in shaping the image of the City or if they were just interested in the R TC area. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich confirmed that Jim Deal and the Solomon Group were willing to <br />participate financially in publications and things directly related to the RTC. He stated that if the <br />goal were to be a more broad based approach, they would probably not be as interested in <br />participating because they are focused on their property and land. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that he feels there needs to be a consistent message driven by the <br />City Council and it should be the same no matter who it comes from. He stated that he feels the <br />focus should be on the whole City and not just one piece of it. He stated that he likes an idea <br />such as, "Live, Work and Play". <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the rotary club and churches have been some of our best marketers so <br />far. He stated that another big positive he sees in the City that should be marketed is the park <br />and trail system. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that he will begin the discussion with the comprehensive plan <br />meeting on December 5, 2007 and after that take a look at the possibly of putting together an <br />RFP. He stated that he liked Councilmember Jeffrey's suggestion for a slogan of Ramsey being <br />a "Great Place to Live, Work and Play." <br /> <br />2) MN Naturalists Program <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood gave an overview of the current volunteer system in the City which <br />consists primarily of small scale projects such as Adopt a Spot projects, Boy Scout and Eagle <br />Scout projects, and Arbor Day Plantings. He stated that the City has also worked with the <br />Anoka High School Football team each spring to paint rinks and clean up cemeteries prior to <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / November 27, 2007 <br />Page 3 of7 <br />
