<br />PC# 3 <br />CONSIDER APPOINTMENT OF AN INTERIM ASSISTANT COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR/HRA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources,Manager <br /> <br />Backe:round <br /> <br />On November 21,2007, the City's Community Development Director left the City to <br />take a position with the City of Roseville. The City Administrator appointed the <br />Assistant Commlinity Development Director as Interim Community Development <br />Director until such time as a new Director is hired. This temporary assignment did not <br />require a salary adjustment. Amy Geisler, Associate Planner, was assigned to take on <br />several of the duties of the Assistant Community Development Director and staff is <br />requesting that that the City Council take formal action on this temporary assignment. <br /> <br />The Interim Assistant Community Development Director is responsible for the following: <br />serving as the point person for the HRA consultant who is completing the Master <br />Housing Plan; planning for HRA meetings; overseeing Planning Commission cases and <br />agenda publication and monthly development review meetings with other departments; <br />serving as lead staff liaison at the Planning Commission level; making decisions when <br />the Interim Community Development Director is not available; and being the 'go to' <br />person for Town Center and the former Ramsey Crossings on any planning-related <br />topics. <br /> <br />In recognition of the additional responsibilities that Ms. Geisler has taken on, staff <br />recommends that, effective November 22,2007, Ms. Geisler be officially appointed <br />Interim Assistant Community DevelopmentDirector. Staff further recommends that <br />"working out of classification pay" be set at 4%. <br /> <br />Fundine: Source <br /> <br />The 4% working out of classification pay will be paid from the Community Development <br />Director salary savings.
