CQ&e ... 9 AUTHORIZE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ANOKA COUNTY REGIONAL RAIL AUTHORITY AND NORTHSTAR CORRIDOR DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY APPROVE THE INCLUSION OFcTHE RAMSEY COMMUTER RAIL STATION SITE AS PART OF THE NORTHSTAR CORRIDOR COMMUTER RAIL SERVICE-PHASE ONE By: Heidi A. Nelson, Asst. City Administrator Background: The full funding agreement for the Northstar Commuter Rail project was approved in December, providing the necessary federal approvals for the project to move forward. With this funding in place and the project moving forward to implementation, the time has arrived for the City of Ramsey to formally make its request for a Ramsey Station to the Regional Rail Authority and the Northstar Corridor Development Authority. A resolution formally requesting a Ramsey Station is attached to this case for council consideration. . Staff is coordinating a presentation of the resolution to the NCDA at the January 22nd regular meeting of the Council; elected and appointed officials will be invited as well as local and metro area media. Staffhas met with The Tinklenberg Group and requested a proposal for work to be performed in support of lobbying and planning for a Ramsey Station on the Northstar Commuter Rail Line. The proposal from The Tinklenberg Group is attached for Council consideration. Jodi Rhuele will be present for the worksession discussion earlier in the evening regarding Northstar and the plan to request and lobby for a Ramsey Station. Staff Recom mendation: By motion, approve Resolution No. 08-01-XX, Requesting the Anoka County Regional Rail Authority and Northstar Corridor Development Authority approve the inclusion of the Ramsey commuter rail station site as part of the Northstar Corridor Commuter Rail service-phase one. c By motion, approve proposal from The Tinklenberg Group for work to be performed in support of lobbying and planning for a Ramsey Station on the Northstar Commuter Rail Line. Staff proposes . to utilize 2008 Community Development and Engineering general consulting funds to cover the costs of the work to be performed by The Tinklenberg Group at a cost ofNTE $4,000 per month for a period offoUT to five months.
