Cost $1,350,000 (replace existing) <br /> <br />Option F <br /> <br />Total meter replacement to fixed network system with contractors <br />Est. cost $1,441,000 (replace existing) <br /> <br />Funding: <br /> <br />The meter replacement program would be funded through the water utility fund. At this <br />time there is a positive capital balance in the Water Utility Fund. A portion of the <br />balance could be used to finance this project.' All of the numbers presented in this case <br />are close estimates, but will require additional refinement before a program is established. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending Option C. The radio read technology has additional features not <br />available with the current system and offers labor savings in reading the meters. Security <br />of the water system is important and the radio technology has the capability to detect <br />leaks, backflows or tampering with the meter. The City currently is a small water utility <br />with a small number of meters.
