In the end Ramsey Fire Department (RFD) responded to a total of 489
incidents. This compares to 496 in 2006. A few details on responding:
Personal Injury accident response was again the largest portion with 110
responses or 22% of the total. Of these 8 involved extrications to remove victims
from vehicles, 9 involved heart related (code blue) responses with the police dept
and 1 water rescue response to a stranded pontoon boat on the Mississippi.
• Alarms response continued at a high rate with 104 responses or 216/6 of the total.
• Reports of illegal burning is the 3rd largest response with a total of 72 or 15% of
the total.
• A total of 10 structure fires happened along with 22 fires involving contents within
structures.
Mutual Aid requests to other communities numbered 21 including a 5 day
response to the Boundary Waters in the spring.
2007 saw the 3rd year RFD utilized a Duty Officer Response. This response sends 1-2
fire officers to less drastic incidents rather than a full department response. Types of
calls were some alarm calls, illegal burning, resident questions, Carbon Monoxide
Alarms, etc. The total number of Duty Officer Responses in 2007 were 174.
Burns Township response totaled 43.
