The City has seen significant growth over the past five years and has seen its <br />number of available Zip + 4 sectors grow to over 66%. According to the zip code criteria your <br />office previously provided, a 70% number is needed to trigger a new zip code. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey is currently involved in a very large scale project called the Ramsey Town <br />Center. This project will include 370 acres of mixed use development that will have over 2,800 <br />housing units when complete. The Metropolitan Council has projected the number of Rarnsey's <br />households to increase from 5,906 in 2000 to 10,900 in 2010 and 16,200 by 2020. The <br />population growth in the City makes it clear that the need for a new zip code is immii1ent. <br /> <br />Ramsey is aware that there are a limited amount of zip codes for the metropolitan area. However, <br />it is clear that the City of Ramsey will require its own zip code in the near future due to the <br />projected growth. It would seem prudent at this time to assign the new zip code to Ramsey so <br />that the City can prepare for its implementation.
