Case # 1

ADOPT STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR RAMSEY BUSINESSES
By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

The Ramsey EDA discussed the potential impacts of the Sunfish Lake Boulevard improvement project in 2008.
Staff was directed to draft a statement in support of the area businesses that would be impacted by the pending
construction. The Statement reads as follows:

The primary objective of the Ramsey Economic Development Authority is to aid, assist and promote the
growth and expansion and retention of commercial, retail and industrial development in the City of
Ramsey.

The Sunfish Lake Boulevard/Highway 10 intersection currently is an important commercial and retail
node that contains twelve businesses. The pending construction of the median on Sunfish Lake
Boulevard has the potential to negatively impact the businesses located in that area. Therefore, the
Ramsey EDA supports all reasonable actions prior to, during and following construction of the median
that will help mitigate negative impacts on the local Ramsey businesses.

Adoption of this statement in support of the area businesses and trying to help mitigate the potential impact of
the 2008 construction project are things that make it clear that the EDA is trying maintain a positive business
climate. The italicized statement above is now presented to the EDA for formal adoption.

Funding Source:

N/A

Recommendation:

Staff recommends formal adoption of the italicized statement.

EDA Action:

Motion to recommend the formal adoption of the italicized statement.

EDA: 02.14.08

8
