Motion byi ¢o~missioner Fults and seconded by Commissioner Gorecki to recommend that <br />Ramsey City COuncil adopt an ordinance amending Chapter 2 of the Ramsey City Code to allow <br />the Econo~i~ D~velopment Commission to have a maximum of four members that are non-resident <br />business o~eominercial property owners in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Further, that by allowing a minority of non-resident business or commercial property owners, the <br />City Counojl,.wili be better able to receive unbiased input from the business community concerning <br />the needs ai~d challenges facing the business community in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Motion caa'ied.- Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Commissioners Fults, Gorecki, Greenberg, <br />Nelson, Schroeder, Ullen and Vevea. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Kent. <br /> <br />Election of~a Chairperson and a Vice-Chairperson for the EDC was tabled until the Commission <br />receives a ~ply from City Council concerning the reappointments of the Economic Development <br />Commissioh ~members, including Commissioner Vevea. <br /> <br />Some members of the Commission expressed concern that if City Council continues with its <br />present poll[ey, they would need to review whether or not they would like to be reappointed to the <br />Economic 1~, Cvel0pment Commission. <br /> <br />Case #2: Aesthetic Improvement Meeting for Ramsey Industrial Park. <br /> <br />The City contacted Mediation Services of Anoka County and arranged a meeting between the <br />business an~l prOperty owners in the area of Ramsey Industrial Park for December 29, 1992 at 7:00 <br />p.m. at Ra~n~ey ~Municipal Center. A letter has been sent to all property and business owners <br />requesting their attendance and explaining the process that will be used with Mediation Services. <br />Mediation .Services has recommended that the EDC members attend this meeting, not as <br />Commissio3~members but, as citizens gaining input from property owners so that they have an <br />understandi~ng of the direction of aesthetic improvements the area property owners would like to <br />see. <br /> <br />Commissioner Vevea reiterated the importance of the Commission members meeting with this <br />group to help deVelop a satisfactory solution to problems in the area. <br /> <br />STAFF I~PUT <br /> <br />Mr. Gromb_'erg siated that the City has received a Certificate of Involuntary Dissolution of the <br />Ramsey E¢0t~onaic Development Company for failure to file corporate registration pursuant to <br />Minnesota $/.atute 302. A.821, Subdivision .5B. The Ramsey Economic Development Company <br />is hereby s~t to cease to exist as of December 9, 1991. <br /> <br />Commissio~%r Oreenberg stated that it is possible to revive the corporation by the filing of the <br />required registration. As a legal entity the company exists but as a operating entity it does not. <br /> <br />Mr. Gromberg informed the Economic Development Commission that the City's recent minor <br />MUSA expansion was approved by the Metropolitan Council and provided the EDC with updated <br />zoning map!for their use which reflects the recent MUSA boundary expansion. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission /December 9, 1992 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
