Councilmember _ introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />Resolution #08- 02 -xxx <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REDUCTION OF RAMSEY STAR <br />EXPRESS FARE TO $2.75 PER RIDE <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Star Express began service on January 22n 2007; and, <br />WHEREAS, the fare for the Ramsey Star Express is currently set to $4.50 per <br />ride; and, <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey and Elk River are the only sites that have fares above $2.75 <br />in the Metro Transit scheduling system; and, <br />WHEREAS, with Elk River being outside the seven- county metro area, Ramsey <br />is the only $4.50 fare in the seven - county metro area; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council believes that a reduction in fares of the Ramsey <br />Star Express to $2.75 will increase ridership; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council believes that an increase in riders will further <br />substantiate the need and benefit of a Ramsey Rail Station on the Northstar Commuter <br />Rail service. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes the reduction of Ramsey Star <br />Express fares to $2.75 per ride, effective as soon as possible in coordination with Anoka <br />County TMO. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in <br />favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City <br />Council this the 26 day of February 2008. <br />-153— <br />
