C= /o <br />Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 08 -02 -XX X <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ANOKA COUNTY FEDERAL RECREATION <br />TRAIL GRANT APPLICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A MOUNTAIN <br />BICYCLING TRAIL AT RUM RIVER CENTRAL REGIONAL PARK, WITHIN THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey City Council and the Park and Recreation Commission recognizes <br />the importance of Parks, Open Space and Recreation to the quality of life for Ramsey residents; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Rum River Central Park is a Regional Park that also serves these needs in the <br />capacity of a neighborhood resource; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey does not have developed mountain bicycling trails; and <br />WHEREAS, Rum River Central will meet these needs, and be unique recreational <br />resource for the entire community, as well as the Region; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County is applying for a Federal Recreation Trail Grant from the <br />Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for construction of a mountain bicycling trail at <br />Rum River Regional Park; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County is committed to improving the quality of recreation facilities <br />within the county; and <br />WHEREAS, the mountain bicycling trails will be located in Rum River Central Regional <br />Park within the City of Ramsey and there is an established demand for this type of recreational <br />trail; and <br />WHEREAS, the trail design and development shall carefully consider wildlife habitat <br />and natural resource issues; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the City of Ramsey supports Anoka County's Federal Recreational <br />Trail Grant Application to the Minnesota Department of Natural <br />Resources to fund construction of a mountain bicycling trail at Rum River <br />Central Regional Park. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />RESOLUTION #08- 02 -XXX <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />—79— <br />
