TER 7, SECTION 7.93 TITLED .TOBACCO SALES OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY M~N~O~ . , The City of Ramsey ordains: SECTION 1.AUTHORITY This ordinance is adopted pursuant. to and under the authority of the City Charter of the City of Ramsey. SECTION 2.SUMMARY The following is the official summary of Ordinance #08-05 which has been .' approved by the City Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the pub- lic of the intent and effect of the Ordi. nance. The ordinance deletes the current term language which states that "all licenses issued under this ordinance shall be valid for one calendar year from the date of issue. The new language ~mends the term of the license so that it IS fro.m January 1 to December 31 and any license applied for after January 1 shall have an effective date of when <::ouncil approves the license. Such license shall be in effect through December 31 of that year. . T~e. education requirements section IS spilt rnto two paragraphs and more clearly defines what the requirements are. The ordinance deletes the current f.ees language which states that "No license shall be issued under this ordi. nance until the appropriate license fee shall be paid in full. The fee for a license under this ordinance shall be as estab- II.shed annually by City Council resolu- tion. The new language implements a two~tier license fee structure whereby the hcense holder will pay a lesser license fee If age verification technology that m~ets performance requirements deter- mrned by the City is utilized for every tobacco sale. SECTION 3.EFFECTlVE DATE . ~he effective date of this Ordinance IS th~rty (30) days after its passage and publication, subject to City Charter Sec- tion 5.07.
