<br />Case # 8 <br /> <br />CONSIDER SELECTION OF A PLANNING COMMISSIONER FOR THE RAMSEy3 <br />WORKING GROUP: CASE OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY AND THE RAMSEy3 <br />STEERING COMMITTEE <br />By: Breanne Daines, Associate Planner <br /> <br />Background/Observations: <br /> <br />The Ramsey3 steering committee has requested that the Planning Commission select one <br />additional commissioner to join a Ramsey3 Working Group. The specific tasks of the working <br />group will be to: 1) refme the OST-based vision statement; 2) Create a checklist of core <br />objectives; and 3) Explore alternative zoning practices that meet the objectives and examine <br />the strengths and weaknesses of each practice. The structure of the Working Group will consist <br />of 24 members. The Ramsey steering committee, two city staff, one representative from each <br />the Planning Commission, Environmental Policy Board, Park Commission, and Economic <br />Development Authority, one additional City Council member, six neighborhood <br />representatives, four OST group leaders, one resident developer, and two local business <br />owners. The time commitment is anticipated to be 5 meetings that would each last <br />approximately two hours. Three meetings would be to accomplish the above three tasks, one <br />meeting would be a community-wide OST session to vet the ideas, and one final meeting <br />would be to synthesize the results of the OST and finalize a recommendation to the City <br />Council for a vision statement and framework <br /> <br />At their meeting on February 26, 2008, the City Council appointed the following members and <br />alternates as the Ramsey Working Group: <br /> <br />Sarah Strommen-Ramsey3 Committee Joe McDilda-Ramsey3 Committee <br />Ralph Brauer-Ramsey3 Committee Will Thompson-Ramsey3 Committee <br />John Dehen-Council Member John Peterson-Developer <br />AI Pearson-Community Member Carolyn Baldus-Community Member <br />Ron Hustvedt-Community Member Denny Donovan-Community Member <br />Chris Peterson-Community Member Jim Overtoom -Community Member <br />Ryan Hunt-OST Group Leader Colin McGlone-OST Group Leader <br />Bob Ramsey-OST Group Leader John Engstrom-OST Group Leader <br />Brad Lano-BusinessOwner Jim Steffen-Business Owner <br />Alternates: Julie Horn, Matt Tews, Ron Hunt, Merlin Hunt <br /> <br />Pending Appointment- One Planning CommissioIler, Environmental Policy Board Member, <br />Parks Commissioner, Economic Development Authority member, and two city staff members. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends selecting an interested Planning Commissioner who is willing to commit to <br />attending a minimum of five working group meetings. <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br />Motion to appoint <br /> <br />to the Ramsey3 Working Group. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br />Interim Asst.
