<br />Public Hearing <br />REQUEST FOR A HOME OCCUPATION PERMIT; <br />CASE OF APRIL MASTELL <br />By: Breanne DaInes, Associate Planner <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />CASE # ,. <br /> <br />The City has received an application from April Mastell for a home occupation permit to <br />establish a hair salon in her home located at 6461 153rd Lane N.W. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) Site location map <br />b) Site layout exhibits <br />c) Proposed findings of fact <br />d) Proposed home occupation permit <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />In accordance with State statute, Staff notified property owners within 350 feet of the subject <br />property of the public hearing. <br /> <br />. Observations: <br /> <br />Home occupations that are not conducted entirely by home computer, phone, or mail require the <br />issuance of a home occupation permit, according to Section 9.11.04 (subdivision 1) of the City <br />Code. <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting a home occupation permit to conduct a salon business out of one <br />room on the lower level of her home. The salon area will be accessible from both her garage and <br />her main living area, and will be restricted to the dwelling unit. The total amount of space to be <br />utilized for the business is 128 square feet, which will not exceed 20% of the living space of the <br />home. There will be no outside employees, and a minimal number of clients. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />City staff recommends approval of the request for home occupation permit. <br /> <br />1 <br />
