Don't be "afraid to face the ugly truth" Council to have faith in judgment of staff • Eliminate repetition in staff reports Council and Staff to be More Effective Group 1 noted the following points in relation to Council /staff being more effective: • Trust that we are all working in the best interest of the citizens of Ramsey. • Call staff prior to meetings for additional information or input on agenda cases so staff and Council can be better prepared for action. Group 2 noted the following points in relation to Council /staff being more effective: • Constructive feedback about the information we provide them is it enough or the right information for them to use in decision - making? • Understand the effect of television on meetings — how to promote a positive image of the City. Creating an Action Plan Ms. Strandell distributed the City of Ramsey 2008 Objectives & Work Plan. She indicated the Plan will be updated based on this retreat. Employee Survey Assistant City Administrator Nelson provided a brief Power Point presentation on the employee survey recently completed by staff. The report will be included in a Council packet. Wrap Ms. Strandell requested information from Council and staff on the most beneficial element of the City Council /staff retreat. Councilmember Strommen• Discussion about Town Center and laying out a plan for when we have those conversations with a developer and the public. Councilmember Olson: Refocusing on goals. Mayor Gamec: Team work, effort of staff /Council working together for common goals that are set. Councilmember Look: Commitment to the City of Ramsey from everyone. Councilmember Dehen: Teamwork.
