Case #2: Introduce Ordinance to Amend the Sign Ordinance; Case of City of Ramsey Chairperson Nixt closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 7:29 p.m. in order to call the public hearing to order. Public Hearing Chairperson Nixt called the public hearing to order at 7:29 p.m. Presentation Associate Planner Dalnes stated based on the September 6th and December 6th Planning Commission discussion and public hearing with regard to the sign ordinance, Staff has brought forward a revised sign ordinance that achieves the following goals: 1) simplifies the changes to eliminate content -based standards for temporary signage and make the revisions less complicated and cumbersome; 2) makes the temporary signage regulations uniform on an interim basis, with the greatest flexibility to residents by examining the fee structure; 3) Provides additional time for the display of temporary signs (currently 6 weeks); and 4) Allows more temporary signs for multi- tenant business. Staff recommends that the Planning Commission recommend that the City Council adopt the proposed Ordinance. Citizen Input There was none. Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy, to close the public hearing. Motion Carried. The public hearing closed at 7:33 p.m. Commission Business Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 7:33 p.m. Commissioner Trites Rolle asked if the duration of six weeks per year (with an extension allowed of four weeks) applied to the business or the property.
