Absent: None. <br />Case #2: Introduce Ordinance to Amend the Sign Ordinance; Case of City of Ramsey <br />Chairperson Nixt closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 7:29 p.m. in <br />order to call the public hearing to order. <br />Public Hearing <br />Chairperson Nixt called the public hearing to order at 7:29 p.m. <br />Presentation <br />Associate Planner Dalnes stated based on the September 6th and December 6th Planning <br />Commission discussion and public hearing with regard to the sign ordinance, Staff has brought <br />forward a revised sign ordinance that achieves the following goals: 1) simplifies the changes to <br />eliminate content -based standards for temporary signage and make the revisions less complicated <br />and cumbersome; 2) makes the temporary signage regulations uniform on an interim basis, with <br />the greatest flexibility to residents by examining the fee structure; 3) Provides additional time for <br />the display of temporary signs (currently 6 weeks); and 4) Allows more temporary signs for <br />multi- tenant business. <br />Staff recommends that the Planning Commission recommend that the City Council adopt the <br />proposed Ordinance. <br />Citizen Input <br />There was none. <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy, to close the public hearing. <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Van Scoy, Brauer, Cleveland, <br />Hunt, Levine, and Trites Rolle. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br />The public hearing closed at 7:33 p.m. <br />Commission Business <br />Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 7:33 <br />p.m. <br />Commissioner Trites Rolle asked if the duration of six weeks per year (with an extension <br />allowed of four weeks) applied to the business or the property. <br />Planning Commission /January 3, 2008 <br />Page 5 of 8 <br />
