for balled and burlap trees in the future. He explained that they are shooting for about 50 trees <br />that would be available for preorder, but that number could be adjusted. He stated that trees <br />would be sold at cost. He explained that they are still working on which types of trees would be <br />available. He explained that the local partner would focus on fruit trees. <br />Board Member Bentz questioned if there would be an ability to donate trees from the tree sale. <br />He explained that some people may not have a large yard but still may want to purchase a tree <br />and donate it to be planted in the City. <br />Acting Chairperson Max questioned what the average cost for a preorder tree would be. <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson replied that the cost would be around $35. <br />Acting Chairperson Max challenged the Board to donate their fees for the next meeting to buy <br />trees and offer them to the Park Board for planting in the City. He stated that he would also like <br />to use the display board to put up maps of the wetlands and the natural resources assessment. He <br />thought that it would be a nice talking point for people walking by the booth. <br />Board Member Sibilski commented that they have never really displayed the natural resources <br />inventory in public before. He added that it would be nice to have a copy or two for people to <br />look through. <br />Board Member Stodola suggested that they have information on water conservation, such as <br />when to water your lawn and how often it needs to be done. He stated that way maybe they can <br />get out of needing an odd /even - watering ban. <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that staff had been talking about themes for the <br />expo and the overall theme this year could be water resources. He explained that it would fit in <br />with the rain gardens, native plantings, and other displays could also focus on water. <br />Acting Chairperson Max stated that these events are usually fun. He stated that you never know <br />who will come to the expo and you get a chance to talk to different people. He stated that they <br />would need to make sure that the booth is staffed at all times and that before and after the <br />presentations they have at least two people at the booth. He questioned if Board Member <br />Stodola could head the water conservation idea he had brought up for the expo. <br />Board Member Stodola replied that he would get information for that. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Board Member Freeburg stated that his in -laws counted 27 trumpeter swans on the river. He <br />added, on a sad note, that when walking he ran into some people who had said they saw the <br />carcass of an eagle by the river. He guessed that it most likely was a young eagle. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that there is a meeting for the comprehensive plan <br />update on Thursday night.
