<br />and ideas were organized, the information was again reviewed by the key players, to see if <br />anything was missing or needed to be revised. <br /> <br />Ms. Weyandt stated that they are very proud of the elegant mission statement stated that was' <br />created from this process, "Provide innovative career and technical education to help our <br />students and communities live and learn well." She stated that their vision statements is "A vital <br />student and community focused institution, providing the finest career and technical education in <br />Minnesota." She reviewed the values and goals of the ATC and noted that their partnership with <br />District 11 in the STEP program is something that they are very proud of. She stated that <br />currently the STEP program has 100 full time and 700 part time students and their graduation <br />rate is 92%. She noted that the students involved in the STEP program are from all levels and <br />abilities. She stated that the City has been a supporter of the A TC in the past and she would like <br />to request that this support continue. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he feels there is a good partnership between the City and the A TC. He <br />stated that he knows that area businesses appreciate the education and training that the A TC <br />provides to employees. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if Ms. Weyandt had noticed any benefit from the combined effort <br />to integrate the STEP program and the college. <br /> <br />Ms. Weyandt stated that there has definitely been a benefit, for example, sharing lab space, <br />equipment, supplies and even, in some cases, faculty. She stated that Rochester and St. Paul are <br />exploring similar programs. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if there were plans for more models like this one, for example, a <br />national model. <br /> <br />Ms. Weyandt stated that she hopes this can serve as a national model and noted that Mr. Miliron <br />who worked with them on their strategic planning, is a national expert in these types of <br />partnerships. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to direct staff to draft a <br />letter in support ofthe Anoka Technical College Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: Councilmembers Dehen and Strommen. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - QCTV's New Web-Streaming Service - Terry O'Connell, QCTV <br />Administrator <br /> <br />Mr. O'Connell stated that about a year ago there was discussion about the possibility of having <br />Council meetings available on the internet. He stated that, at that time, he didn't feel that QCTV <br />had the authority or ability to do this. He stated that they did start researching the possibilities <br />and spoke with South Washington County who out-sources to another company.
