Chairperson Nixt stated he was going to reserve comment until he sees the actual Comprehensive
Plan.

Interim Assistant Community Development Director Geisler asked if there are glaring omissions
or is there something in there that is extremely offensive and should be taken out.

Commissioner VanScoy stated some of these things are City policies and not necessarily
strategies but how they will implement them.

Commissioner Levine thought there was a lot of good information but he was looking at 'the
economic development and marketing areas and he thought they needed to beef it up.

Commissioner Van Scoy asked if it was their job as a Planning Commission to look at this in
terms of land use or in other terms.

Commissioner Levine thought they were asked to look at the entire document and provide
feedback.

Commissioner Brauer stated the goal has to' be quantifiable and measurable otherwise they will
not know if they have gotten there or not. He stated the more everyone knows exactly where they
are going and having it quantifiable and measurable they can understand whether you are getting
there or not and what needs to be done to get there. He thought they had a draft for some sort of
ideas for goals but in planning terms they are not really goals.

Commissioner Cleveland thought it may actually be missing the goal statements for all the
objectives.

Chairperson Nixt thought staff has made the Planning Commission some tools for them to
provide specific comments and he would encourage them to do that but in order to make it easier
in them he requested staff provide them a draft of this in an electronic format to insert comments
or changes so staff can make changes.

Interim Assistant Community Development Director Geisler stated she would do that.

, Interim Community Development Director Frolik thought the Commission and staff will use
these goals to serve as their guide to meet the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan.

Commissioner Brauer disagreed with that because when you go back and look at the data it is not
accurate with what is stated. He stated it all depends on how one reconciles those things.

Interim Assistant Community Development Director Geisler thought the Commission should
look through this information and get back to her with any comments or recommendations.

Planning Commission / March 6, 2008

P18
